The V40 logger is a multifunctional digital data acquisition and control system. The V40 is considered an advanced system. It employs a 40 MHz DSC microcontroller with clock multiplier operating at 20 MIPS that performs the following functions:

 

COMMUNICATION:

 

The V40 Logger communicates with a PC over a serial RS-232 or USB port at 57,600 baud. It may also operate stand-alone without a PC.

 

OPERATING SYSTEMS:

 

The V40 Logger is compatible with popular operating systems like Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

 

Platforms using Windows Vista in any of its versions are not recommended at this time. Contact support@wellog.com for information.

 

ACQUISITION:

 

Data acquisition using time as a reference for example one sample per second, 1 million samples per second, etc.

 

Data acquisition using position obtained from a global position system (GPS).

 

Data acquisition using linear position or depth sensing information for example as in well logging.

 

CONTROL:

 

The V40 logger performs signal control of bipolar, on-off, positive-off-negative-off using digital output.

 

The V40 performs closed loop bipolar stepper motor control.

 

The V40 can perform AC or DC motor control for speed, position, and directional control.

 

The V40 DAC option performs SPI DAC control functions as applies to analog output power control.

 

The V40 DAC option allows generation of complex arbitrary waveforms.

 

CONTROL AND ACQUISITION:

 

The V40 can perform waveform generation and high speed multi-channel data acquisition in sequential operations.

 

Electromagnetic waveform (pulse) transmission and timed secondary waveform acquisition is an example. 

 

APPLICATIONS:

 

Rotary encoder position sensing, depth measurement and readout used in well logging.

 

Timed data logging. Data logging can be performed every second, millisecond, microsecond, hour, week, day, etc.

 

Borehole well logging including depth measurement and display.

 

Geophysical electromagnetic pulse and continuous waveform transmitter control and signal acquisition.

 

Geophysical Electrical resistivity system control and signal acquisition.

 

Induced Polarization transmitter control and time domain acquisition.

 

Induced polarization transmitter control and frequency domain acquisition.

 

ROBOTICS:

 

The V40 logger can perform sensing and control of robotic systems.

 

The V40 logger can control advanced autonomous robotic systems.

 

ACCESSORIES:

 

The V40 Logger includes a serial/USB communications cable and AC power adapter

 

Displays:

 

Optional seven segment and LCD displays are available for stand-alone applications.

 

WELLOG is developing many different accessories to interface the V40 to small signal environments and power control applications.

 

Optional high speed Digital to Analog Converter(s) and Programmable Gain Amplifiers offer mixed signal acquisition and control.

 

MEMORY:

 

The V40 logger has optional removable SD Flash card capacity to 16 GB.
